FALL CHANGE

I've noticed on a few cam pics that some of the deer are starting to shed the summer coat, then yesterday, while I was putting out stands I came across 2 scrapes in an area that in the past has had a scrape line. 1st one I saw I wasn't sure about. But 30 yards away I found a second and there was no mistake about that one. They are not big at all or scraped very hard. Has anyone ran across any scrapes yet?? I thought it's pretty early for scrapes but apparently not.

Round here I haven't seen any yet.Lookin around the first to second week of Sept. for em though.

Ive been seeing alot of scrapes and small rubs along the edges of fields this week. I got video of a big buck making a scrape and sparring with another buck. Its kinda wierd since they are still in velvet.

I saw a nice ten point last night in a field with the velvet dripping off his rack. It was quite a sight. He had rubbed nearly all of it off the G2, G3 and G4 and the majority was hanging off the main beams. THe brow tines looked very sharp! I wish i had a camera, i ended up getting about 20 yards away before he took off.

Haven't really noticed any fresh scrapes along my travels, and as far as I can tell all the bucks I've seen in the last few evenings have full coats of velvet yet. Two weeks ago I did watch a 2 1/2 year old buck mount another 2 1/2 year old, but only for a moment, the one on the bottom didn't seem to appreciate it too much.

They were probably just screwing around, but it was definately weird to see. I have noticed the bottom branches on the small oak trees are completely stripped of all the growing acorns, I guess I never new they ate them when they were still green, but they must.

Critrgitr mentioned the deer eating the acorns off the tree. The acorns have been dropping like crazy off the oak tree in our farm yard. Looks to be a heavy crop this year. Anybody else notice how the mast crop is doing in their area? Spent the morning picking apples for cider. Both crops seem early.
