I have noticed alot of road kill lately, mostly does

This morning (I wish I had my camera) I saw a fawn being chased around a horse pasture by a colt lol. The entertainment was bitter/sweet, mom had been roadkilled. What do you think the survival chances for these orphan fawns are this time of year?
