I was looking out my back window last night and had the pleasure of seeing two does that looked like they were ready to explode. It was quite a site they were walking very gingerly. I am assuming their fawns will be on the ground in days or a few weeks. When do they kick out their yearling fawns?

Slim....a deers gestation period is 200 to 205 days with most fawns being born in late May to early June. Getting close!

i've found fawns a couple of times out mushroom huntin'. both of them looked like they were only hours old. i had my mom with on mothers day several years ago and she found one laying all curled up underneath mayapples. it was so cute she wanted to take it home with her.

Last year my father in-law scared up a doe in a waterway while planting beans. She ran about 200 yards and stood there and watched him plant, he thought something was up since she didn't take off running. Next time around he got off the tractor and looked in the waterway and found a set of freshly born triplets, still soaking wet. He called into the house and his wife brouhgt out a camera, he has a real nice picture of all three of them curled up together. If I remember right this was in the middle of May, I remeber seeing the picture Memorial Day weekend. Next time we make it up that way I'll see if I can get a copy of the picture and post it out here.

Some years ago while shooting an outdoor archery league our group kept hearing bawling sounds. When we finially found the source of the sound it was a pair of brand new fawns. I didn't have a camera along at the time. The next week I carried a camera along. Found this one by the 50 yd. target.

My father-in-law and I were turkey hunting yesterday and on the way in we drove by a fawn in a CRP field. It was less than 50 yards from the road. As we drove by the fawn ducked down as low as it could to hide itself. It was pretty cool to see that and so close to the road!

My friend and I were hunting for some mushrooms and we came upon a fawn similar to the picture in the post above, they're so small its amazing to think that they get so big when they are full grown.

Found a fawn myself today, came across the cute little thing in a grassy fencerow. A more innocent creature I could not imagine. It sure made the day for me!

when i drove home from college on the 15 of may, outside of iowa city in that field where all the deer always are, some of you probably know where im talking about, there was three big does out there each with two little fawns behind them, and two of them were nursing on their moms. It was pretty cool, then while turkey hunting i had nine buck walk by me, so im starting to get excited about the upcoming season!!

saw four big does deliver twins today...it was great seeing them first come out..and then walk around

The sad thing is, one of them gave birth in the road ditch as I was driving by. and another one was out in the middle of a bean field. It was awesome....
