Field of vision scope

I currently have a red dot scope I use for shot gun deer drives. I have trouble picking up moving deer aNd either going to go open sites or something with wider field of vision. Any suggestions?

Is your red dot a zero power scope? Most are I think. Zero power will be the easiest to pick up a deer in. The more magnification, the harder it gets. Field of view is a big one as well, what is the view width on your scope? Maybe give open sites a try and see how it goes.

I agree with Lyon that a zero power red dot scope will be the easiest to pick up a running deer. But it is my experience that most red dot scopes are not magnified especially lower priced red dot scopes. I currently have Aimpoint 9000sc 2x scopes on 2 browning gold slug guns (1 is a 12 gauge and 1 is a 20 gauge) after trying a few others over the years and plan to continue using it for a long time. Do some research an you will find out the Aimpoint scopes are top of the line red dot scopes.

Take a look at the cabelas powder horn. It's made for a muzzleloader but has great eye relief and allows me to aim with both eyes open. Works excellent for getting on a target quick. Not a bad price tag either.
