FINALLY- a weather change in forecast!

After two weeks of completely miserable 50*+ weather, the weatherman finally comes through with good news for us late season hunters. Just listened to the NWS forcast and they are calling for 5"-7" of snow Sat night thru Sun for the south half of Iowa. I have not seen snow since 2nd shotgun closed. Better yet, temps are forecasted to drop to single digit overnight lows and daytime highs in the teens and low 20's all next week.

Now this is more what I had in mind for late season and should get those deer moving. Hopefully the bucks will abandon the fencerows and draws, come to the foodplots and timber, and it will feel like I'm deer hunting again instead of bird hunting.

8 days to go, who is going out to freeze off some toes and fill tags? I can't wait.

PS, if the weatherman lied, he had better hide...

Just saw the weather forecast myself. Was pretty excited. I will only be able to hunt Monday and Tuesday and possibly Wed morning, but I will be out. Hopefully they will be moving a little bit more.

It's to bad I filled my muzzle loader tag already on a doe. Oh well I guess I can still fill my extra doe tag with my bow. Speaking of which if anyone is iching to hunt and your county doesn't have any doe tags left, the SW part of Iowa has a crap load left. There are something like 2,000 tags left in that area. I bet if you went door knocking you could find a more than generous farmer who would gladly let you shoot a few does. Does anyone know if there is a limit on how many doe tags you can buy? I've been told that you can buy as many as you want for available counties. Could someone please fill me in.

So, with the snow moving in tonight (supposedly), would you expect a noticeable increase in deer movement ahead of the storm this afternoon? The bucks have been pretty scarce in my areas, and I was hoping this would spur an earlier feeding time.

You lucky buggers!!! Season closed here in WI here tonight and the same is forcasted in our area. 4.25 inches of rain here in the month of December. Wish it would have all been Snow!!! What happento the good ole days where there were 2 feet of snow both directions to school by Thanksgiviing!!!!! Good luck guys!!!

anything will help. i've seen 5 does since thursday. i'm about to the mentality that if i get a decent shot at a baldy i'm putting her down.

HEY, Don't you guys hog all of the snow! We are only to get a "Trace" amount in NE iowa. It's still the holliday season, share a little.

Muddy, you just read my mind. They are calling for 9 inches here where im at and i will be real interested in what we end up with.

I want to change my profession to a weatherman. Where else can you get paid if your right or wrong? They have some of the most expensive equipment to use now and they cant seem to get anything right..............

The weather today will be in the 30's to 50's with possible sunshine if its not snowing or raining......

hear in nebraska we have got about an inch and a half and it started around 2:15. But where suppost to get snow tonight and tomorow.

Yeah, you have got to love the weatherman jargon: "4"-12" of snow", "the exact amounts of snow will depend on the track of the storm". Well no $h*t! Pretty good guess its gonna snow somewhere in early Jan! I thought thats what all the equipment was for?

Anyways, so far so good. I don't know about 12" but at least the ground is white here and its still snowing sideways at the moment.

Yesterday I saw more deer movement than in all last week combined, and more bucks than the whole season - all small so far. Everything seemed to be concentrating on corn, which I would expect to see continue with the cold temps coming up. Even saw a pair of yotes out checking herds for weak and injured animals. I'll keep them in mind for next week...

I feel mocked. The weather finally takes a turn for the better, and I've got to go back to school tomorrow.

Curse you, Mother Nature. Curse you.

where i live a in nebraska we got about 5-6 inches of snow. Its 8:24 and its -1 and windchill of -1. i dont know if the deer are moving but the geese sure are.

I went out yesterday in Adair CO and didn't see anything move until 5pm. I saw about 15 does in a group but not a buck in sight.

No snow falling right now up here in Minnesota but the thermometer is really falling-it reads 15 below zero right now at midnight on Monday night here. Deer are burning those calories tonight!
