Well after many trips out and many trips home empty handed I finally connected on what might be my biggest bird to date. After scouting the same bird for four weekends in a row I thought I was going to be done within 15min of flydown opening morning of archery season this year. Unfortunately a silent hen that was roosted with him that morning had a different plan. I hunted that bird four more mornings and have yet to get the shot ive been looking for. But Saturday morning I went for a road trip with a friend of mine and scored on a awesome bird and got the whole thing on video. We waited on the edge of the timber for the birds to gobble, at 5:24 the started up. We moved in and were set up by 5:55. I made a few soft tree calls and they were gobblin there heads off. About 6:10 we had a hen sneek in from behind the blind and start walking right to the gobblers, fortunately she hung up right on the edge of the clearing we were hunting. About 10min later two birds came into few from thefront of us. As soon as one started to strut the hen walked right over and layed down in front of him at 38.5yds. By that time two more birds had snuck in from the side and were heading straight for the decoys. Then the strutting bird started to breed the hen, they were all BIG birds and it was hard to decide which one to shoot. I figured the tom breeding the hen was probably the dominant bird so I decided to take him, I drew and shot him right off her back hitting him in the spine. Made for a short recovery and some great video footage. He ended up weighing 28.5lbs and had an 11.5" beard and a 1 1/2" spurs. Now hopefully I can get back on the bird that
