Guess I am the weather guy on this sight. What does weather have to do with deer hunting? Guess that is obvious,EHD,Food Plots,Fruit trees,Iowa Crops. What does Calif have to do with Iowa? Same weather pattern cuasing fires already out there is why Iowa is having the cold, and pretty much dry, winter, with all the moisture, and big wet stoms hitting east of here. Good news, for winter driving. I drive 260 miles almost every week, so I am grateful. I know spring is a long ways off, but this weather pattern dominated the past two years. This easily couldbe the third. Big ridge out west,,Big trough out east. something to watch! No need to reply, I know,,I'm a broken record. I hope for a Big reversal.

Tell us when will it change. :D

Wish Iknew. As it heats up on the west coast, it gets colder here in Iowa. Flow from Cnanda is cold, and not much moisture from up there. Interesting down in western MO-Kansas City area, they expect fire danger may come up this weekend!? Bare ground and a quick warm-up. Ridge out west is supposed to amplify and dump down another,,,As the media quipped,"Polar Vortex", by the end of the month. Crazy Weather:confused:

Just reading reports on the weather service sites from areas out west in Idaho,Montana, and Wyoming. They are very upset about the lack of precip. Is mild out there in the Mtns too. Mid-upper 30's everyday!

The situation out west is bleak in more than Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Our last snow/moisture in Flagstaff was December 19/20. At 7,000' elevation, we have been in the upper 40s/mid 50s for two weeks now. I'm waiting to see if any fire crews from AZ are going to be sent to CA and if I'll be on one of those crews. I'm starting to think that our national forests are going to be in fire restrictions by March and closed by early May (if that long). I just started my in depth training for the upcoming fire season because its more than likely going to be a bad one out west.

Be careful when you get deployed buddy.

Plenty of moisture here in N.E.
On a bright note with all the moisture and dead elms from last year's TSI work we should have a bumper crop of morels. :D

Unless we get a big TROUGH out west,,which would bring storms in.the BiG Ridge out there,,that has been there for several yrs, means Iowa is included in the below average-moisture flow. Look at the Drought Monitor map. Iowa is included. The dry conditions keep edging east. These little clipper snow systems mean little coming otta Canada. Of coarse Jan is not supposed to be wet,,,but the foundations of drought are being laid. Pray I am wrong. I do.
