First Bow Hunting Season

Hi all-

After shotgun hunting for about 15 years, this fall will be my first bow-hunting attempt. Is obtaing a bow-tag any different from getting a shot-gun tag? What's the procedure? Do you need to apply? I'm a Iowa resident. Thanks!

it is the same as getting a shotgun tag. when you get all your other tags and licenses just tell them you want a bow tag also. it will cost you something like $26.50. good luck. you will be hooked after the first time in the stand.

D-Lung: Thanks for the reply. I've been shooting my bow as much as I can and looking forward to the bow season.

Spinefxr, just make sure you get only one regular bow season tag or you are not going to be able to get a tag for the gun season. You can get a special antlerless zone tag to bow hunt, but if you get two regular season tags to bow hunt you are done. Good luck on your first bow hunt. Aim for the zone!
