Thought I might post a few photos of my first bow turkey. I am not a real experienced turkey hunter, and not a very good turkey hunter, but I wanted to kill one with a bow. Tried last year, and got skunked. Got lucky this morning, and had a Tom come in, after several hard hunting mornings.
Here is my new blind, not a double bull, but very roomy and tall enough to stand up in.
I had Toms gobbling all around on the roost this morning, but one group of 3 quit when they flew down. Another one in the opposite direction gobbled a couple of times on the ground to my call, but I wasn't sure he was going to come in.
I had been calling very infrequently, but decided to give another call. Right after the call I heard him drumming right outside the blind. I took a quick peek, and he was about 5 yards away. He continued to drum, but no gobbles. As soon as he cleared the first window, I let the NAP Spitfire turkey head fly. He was dead right there.
I took this photo with the camera resting on my chair.
Only about a 11 inch beard.
But his spurs were an inch long.
Finally got one with my bow. Now, a second with the shotgun.
