Flambeau Boss Buck Decoy

Went to Scheels last night to look at this decoy. It is huge! It looked twice the size of the carry-lite when they were side by side. It's also by far the most realistic looking decoy out there. The size of it concerns me a little. I'm afraid most bucks will see it and not want to challenge something so big. Are challenging bucks most likely to come in based on the decoys rack size or body size? The decoy only has maybe a 115" rack, but looks 250lbs on the hoof.

Contrary to a lot of things I've heard, it is pretty easy to set up and a lot more quiet that the carry-lite. Comes with a carrying strap but would still be a pain to lug in with other equipment.

im not sure how everybody else will feel about this, and im sure there may be some contrasting views.
i have been using the carry lite decoy for 7-8 years. the first couple years i had all kinds of deer spook at it and couldnt figure out why. i then got to thinking that using both antlers may give the false impression that the deer is tougher/more dominant than he actually was.
i left one antler alone and cut the other one down making it look like he was really busted up. the first test i put him through was setting him (Scar is his name) setting scar up with only one antler on his head, the busted up one. the first day i did that, i shot a buck over it. it was a drop-tine spike....(thats another story)
he was aggressive and way too big for his britches....but he thought he was the boss...
either way, body size could definately be an issue, but since i have started using the one antler that looks busted up, i have had bucks all over the decoy. occasionally deer will spook when they see it. but if it is used at the right time, in the right place, and not covered in human scent, it should be productive and fun everytime!

i plan on getting the boss buch this year, and rest assured i will cut up one antler and not use the other one.....

From experience and reading they size each up mainly from body size.Thats why when a buck comes into a decoy setup aggressive he postures with his hair brissled up and walking sideways.By doing that It makes his body look bigger to the challenger.

I will just stick with my carrylight decoy. I can't justify paying $150 for another decoy when mine works just fine.

I wish they would coat these decoys in a thin rubber to make them quieter to carry in and out and set up. That plastic makes a lot of noise dragging in the grass or hitting tree branches.

My Boss came in this week... we set one up for the shop and I set mine up at home... has anyone else noticed that they are not very stable? It seems that the front legs want to fall off with the slightest bit of pressure or movement... is this thing going to have to be staked every time you put it out in the field?

I have to say, it looks rather impressive set up on the floor of the trophy room/den though!

Yah, the front legs on mine are somewhat unstable. Not too bad though. I think really the only time you would need to stake him down is when there is a considerable amount of wind IMO

i always stake mine down no matter what....probably a good idea incase a bird lands on it or somthing

and i have had a fawn try to get some milk from my decoy before....it was confused, apparently the antlers didnt give it away
