Flathead

I've been scarce as of late, but no worries, I'm still around. Work has been brutal this summer but at least it's been fun. This picture is of a flathead we shocked up 2 days ago on the Fox River down near Mt Sterling. For as far as we walked the water was averaging about 8 inches deep and about 20 feet wide. The ONLY hole on the whold damn stretch we sampled was the size of a VW bug and had a large log jam over it. We sent the juice into the hole and I could hear something knocking around. I assumed carp until I saw a big body down deep, I yelled for the boys to cut the electricity and I reached down, jammed my hand in its mouth and pulled this bugger out. Unfortunately the poor old gal was pretty roughed up, you can tell by how skinney she was. We would've transferred her to anothe section of the river but chances of her living were slim, so we hope that mother nature will send some rain and allow thos old gal to get back to the Mississippi. She measured in about 38-40 inches and will roughly hit 15 pounds. Just look at the size of the body in relation to the head, that girl is SCRAWNEY. Enjoy.

Awesome looking fish. Flatheads are on my list of "to do's"!! I can put it underneath attending the shed convention someday if anyone will put me on a big ugly cat. May be 5 or 10 yrs from now but it'll happen. You have a cool job!!

I can guarantee a 36" northern Muddy. We hit 10 of them over 36" in a little over an hour one day and my brother lost one that was likely over 40!!
