Food plot equipment

Guys, in need of some help with food plot equipment for my atv. I bought a cultivator but this is not getting the job done due to the layed over grass in the area. So my question being does anyone have a disc or would be willing to rent out a disc for a weekend?

Just a suggestion from experience...any way you could burn the residue with good ol fire. Makes tillage a lot easier, even a good atv disc will ride on top. Need more weigth like with large farm equipment.

I think I'd try to burn it off if possible.

Also I think I'd put an acre of beans in and hold off on the brassica mix. The deer will likely destroy your small bean plot then you can seed your brassica mix into it in August.

Exactly. Put it in ALL BEANS now- no question if u want half brassicas later. No doubt. U have time so - I'd either burn it and fry it with roundup or mow it and fry it with roundup. U have a task at hand killing cool season grasses. U probably will b best suited to get that grass killed as best u can in either way and then disc it up Keep on the round up heavy as needed & a small area- baby it... Plant it heavy, hit now with heavy p&k & pell lime & just plan on turning the worst half into brassicas. I would wait to plant beans til others start getting crops in so urs is not the only thing there. Good luck on equipment.

I burned a brome grass area for a new food plot last spring and hit it with the disk a couple hours after the fire had rolled through. Then broadcast seeded RR soybeans and drug them in. Brassicas went in about 1st of August. All worked really well, but expect pretty heavy grass pressure early on, so you'll need to plan on spraying it at least twice. Good luck!
