Food plots

Takes around 27,000 gallons of water to equal 1 inch of rain on an acre, be better to have a pond, creek or lake nearby you could pump out of I think, just my opinion

...or lease a piece up north. We haven't had a ton of rain, but enough to where our plots are looking really good. Might get in on a few pheasants in the process as well. :way:

just buy some standing beans or corn.. fall planted plots probably arent going to happen without irrigation.. seeds i planted 2.5 weeks ago still haven't germinated...

Just hunt the rut. Bucks aren't worried about there next meal around that time... haha. I've never had a food plot before but I have always wanted to plant one. Is it going to rain at all this year?

Bucks aren't but does are, and you know what the bucks are after:D. I am wondering the same thing. Last year it was too little rain. This year,,what does rain look like? Heck,,what do clouds look like??

I'm seeing the opportuntity for a new business developing! haha. I have seen people do this, but with the amount of water needed, it would have to be very costly to do without a water source nearby.

I got a stack of 5 gallon buckets at farm. That work??!?!? :)
Pump with water source nearby - I am thinking that's about it.

People can make water areas with tractor tires and a tarp. Holds a lot of water for the deer to drink from

So - you saying like - dig a shallow hole, put tarp down and pin around it with the tires? Drinking source right? Think you could do one big enough right next to a plot to give a 1 acre plot .25" when it's bad (with pump obviously)?

Have a friend on the volunteer fire department or a construction company with a water tanker to borrow.

Yes just a drinking source. I have never hunted a food plot and never had a problem you all should be fine

37 days since the last rain near me/Burlington...at least that's what the radio said. A month goes fast while waiting, and July was dry too. September is going to be no different.

Save your plot money, and buy more stands to hang multiple wind locations around the few remaining water holes.

I am not far from Burlington. August was the driest month ever recorded there with only a trace. Sept may beat that with 0. Not to be a pessimist but these are just the facts.
