Food plots

So after spending the last two weeks hunting, I have decided I need to change some things up. As soon as it got cold, the deer started to head out to other areas in search of better foods (sadly lots of standing corn in area yet).. I am wanting the BEST late season foods possible. I have 3- 1 Acre plots that I am doing, and plan on planting possibly clover on all of the mowed walking trails.. All plots are in secluded areas, and relatively close to the bedding areas. I plan on doing some hinge cutting of some trees to create bedding pockets as well. Any suggestions on what to plant for next year... the 20 acre field on the property is Alfalfa...

I would go with Brassicas, winter rye and Winter peas. All are late season foods and should last well into the hunting season unlike your typical beans and corn which in small plots get decimated early.

Try soybeans/corn and brassicas

Another option would be sorghum. Deer do move to the food in late season and it pays to have food plots.

In my limited experience, it's tough to beat soybeans but unless there are lots of them nearby the deer may decimate the green growing beans before they ever mature. If there are other corn/bean acres around, your beans will become very popular when the others get harvested. I'm hoping that the local deer here soon learn to eat on my Dbltree mix plot so I can have somewhere to hunt late muzzy. Otherwise I have to wait for my wife to kill one before I get a crack at them over the soybean patch.
