Looking at buying a Foodsaver. Was wonder if anybody has one and could give me some insight on which one to buy.
Thanks

Justhunt,

If your going to use it a lot, get a high quality, more expensive one. Food saver model will not handle lots of work past a year. I have the cabelas model that costs about 400, but closer to 300 when it goes on sale. I have a quasi butcher shop and it has lasted 5 years of heavy use. Prior I went through a food saver or two in a year, good thing they had a warranty that I was able to keep the original money working but after the last one gave out I went with quality/more expense and saved money in the long run.

Get the 100 ct of precut bags, also cheaper and time saving in the long run. Most of my serving sizes fit in the 8"x12" cabelas bag.
If you grind, get the pound or two pound plastic bags and a red tape dispenser and grind right into them, twist shut, and tape it and you basically have vacuum packed the burger/sausage.

Have fun.

Just got a Kenmore one for Christmas. Havent had a chance to try it out yet, but my dad said he researched it before buying it and told me it seems to get better reviews and better performance than the Foodsaver ones in the similar price range.

Not sure which model it is off the top of my head though..

Agree that the cheaper ones don't last that long through a few deer seasons. Spend a little more money will get you a better product.

Go to foodsaver.com and sign up to be on their email list. They send out discounts all the time. I bought the V3860 for $125. It was on sale 50% off.

Where do you find the pound or 2 pound bags and red tape that bwese described above. Thanks.

I got mine at bass pro. Google LEM. They have a burger kit that has bags, tape and tape holder. Its the cats meow. I dont seem to have help when grind up deer so it works out great. I am sure u can find it online cheper than BP.

If you have any butcher supply store in your area they will have all you want. I just bought a 1000 pounders, (they hold 1.5 ground deer) for a little over 30 bucks. I have a Hobarts near me but Cabelas also sells the same bags, just higher priced.
