For those considering a safety vest ....

Here's an idea my wife came up with:

Instead of spending a lot of money for a harness vest, just MAKE one!!! Buy a regular safety harness system. Then sew a regular camo vest to the OUTSIDE of the harness. Leave the buckle and strap in the front/along the side unsewn so you can adjust it to fit your torso. By sewing the vest to the outside of the harness, the harness is still strapped to you and is still what supports your weight, regardless of how well you've got the vest sewn on. The only reason to sew the vest on is to make it easier to strap yourself in. Just an idea to save you some money.

would work if a person would know how to, or know someone who could sew this together with heavy enough duty threads to keep my tubby butt from ripping through!!

Hey Muddy,

You wouldn't need to worry about anything ripping through, or super strong stitching. The harness would still support your weight as if you weren't wearing a vest at all. The vest would just be sewn over the outside of the harness just to make it easier putting it on & taking it off.
