I am alittle confused. Berseem and Crimson clovers are not red clovers, is this correct? They are called Annual clovers? White and red are not considerd annual clovers. Also,, can you frost seed Berseem or Crimson? Last,,,Frost seeding is best done last of Feb,,first of March,,like now. What happens if you sprinkle seed on the melting snow? thanks.

Lone - a lttile snow cover to frost seed over is good IMO. You can easily see where your seed coverage is and as long as the snow melts somewhat evenly. But too much snow and I think you will end up with uneven coverage as the melting snow may carry the seed some and "clump" it up. FWIW, I plan to frost seed some clover myself this weekend.

You can frost seed either red or white clover no problem, and they are both perennials, up to a point. I think you can normally get 3-4 years out of one planting.

Berseem does not do well frost seeded and is an annual. I don't know about Crimson and frost seeding, I have never tried it.

Thanks Daver, for clearing that up. I plan on going to my property next week. By the forecast,,snow wil be melting good end of the week!

If im planning on doing some more frost seeding this up coming weekend here in southern IL the temps are gonna be mild for the 3 days Ill be there. 50/40 60/40 with no freezing temps until the tues 3/12 which then they will be 40/20 all week .
Is the couple days of warmth ok to still frost seed???

Yes,,,rain, snow melt, precip, will help get the seed down into the dirt. I am sure you will have some frosty nights yet in March.

Is it gonna be ok to frost seed into some already wet soil. some soggy wet stuff? temps have changed a bit to 50s/mid 30s, low 40s for a few days and maybe even a shower when I was planning to frost seed ,then the following week it drops to 40s/ mid 20s .
YAY OR NAY ???
