These are the types of things I do that make my wife and neighbors wonder whether or not I am really all there...

Can you tell I am ready to head to Nebraska...

You may need to pack the snow camo! I will be going out Sunday morning, if nothing else to say that I spring turkey hunted with snow on the ground.
On a side note... has anyone had any problems the blind being too bright inside when set-up on the snow?

In the fall I would scrape the snow off with my boot, if only to make it quieter in the blind. There wasn't really an issue with the brightness that I could see.

I wonder how many of those Pretty Boys will get shot this spring!

Looks like a great set up Limb.

You better hope I don't drive by your backyard, I might try a spot and stalk and I would hate to punish that beautiful decoy

That's funny, you see that kinda stuff in my neighborhood to. Hell, if the timing is right I can even get a gobble from two houses down.

It's an uncontrollable response..."shock gobble"...I can't control it.

Limb-

I stopped by cabelas and purchased that exact setup based on your reccomendations....let us know how they worked out!

Did you do anything special with you tailfeathers to help preserve them while sitting out and transporting etc.... Although, the cardboard one that comes along with it I don't think looks that bad. Any other pointers with the setup. Transport a pain? Did you have to heat up the buckwing decoys in hot water to get the creases out?

Re: LIMB???????????????????????????????

I had to heat up my bobbin heads, it took about 15 seconds under hot water in the bathtub.

When I preserve a tail I try to cut as much meat off as possible. Then cut the little tail bone out of the main fan feathers. Separate the main feathers from the secondary tail feathers and the back feathers at the base. Dump salt on them and let sit over night. Brush off the old salt each day and put on new until it stops sticking to the tail. Hot glue or JB weld them together.

Transporting the tail can be tough, but if you just take some care it'll make it a few seasons.

I thought I replied to a PM about this... maybe someone got some info they didn't ask for...

Buckwing = hair dryer

Pretty Boy = a pain to transport but worth it. As far as transporting the real fan we just carry it. The one that is included will never see field action when I am hunting... May be when it is Weasels turn to shoot but not mine...

I really like the decoy and am happy with what we have been experiencing with it so far. It really isn't ideal for running and gunning but when you set in one location it is nice to have.
