Gobbling Activity

I was just wondering if anyone has been seeing or hearing any gobbling or strutting activity. Heard my first gobbles Sat. night and Sunday morning.
Turkeys are already strutting in N.E. Iowa. This is the earliest I have ever recorded hearing them gobble or seeing the strut.

You get enough birds together, they get frisky anytime of the year. I had a little plot of beans that the farmer had missed near one of my stands last fall. Everytime I hunted there a few doz birds would show up for dinner, one of the toms would strut and gobble like it was April 1st.

Saw 9 birds the day after christmas doing a little fighting, strutting, gobbling ritual. Was pretty neat. They were so interested in each other they had no clue i was just 20 yards away.

Toms will strutt and gobble pretty much all year long...hit and miss.

I wouldn't consider this activity in January as the kick off of the breeding season though.....

I agree with what the other guy's said,I'v seen them strutting in November and have heard them gobble all fall.

Ghost,
I agree that this is not the kick off but they are starting to think about it.

February could shut it down though.
I hear them in the fall once in awhile but it is usually a sporadic gobble on the roost. Hardly hear them on the ground gobble like I heard them this weekend and fanning out. Hopefully spring is not that far off.

I have had them gobble a lot in the fall. I have even made them shock gobble to my rattling of horns.. I might have to start carrying horns with me in the spring.
