I just read in the paper this morning that the deer goliath died on Dec. 6. Cause of death is unknown for know but the deer was only 7.5 years. Interesting.

Looks like he may have OD'd on steroids.

Does anyone know if his rack was still getting larger this year?

That is truly an amazing animal!
I do have a question though. If this deer scored 410 then why is it the Texas Trophy Hunters Association TV show claims that High Roller is the "World Record" with a score of ONLY 377. Someone please enlighten me here.

Yes,it's a sad day here in PA,all our flags are at half-mast.I know what you all are thinking,I didn't get a big buck this year and I was desperate,I swear I didn't kill him.

Great!! Since IOWA didnt have a calendar i have extra money and needed one!!! THANKS DOUBLE LUNG!! AND TO THINK THAT I WAS MR. AUGUST 23 years AGO!!!

I have received an answer to my question from the person who scored High Roller. Here is his response in an email if anyone is interested.

I doubt seriously that Goliath scored 410 B&C. They were huge antlers, but not high scoring antlers. The owners never mentioned his score until I went to Ohio and scored High Roller, who had very high scoring antlers. Someone told me the other day that they saw Goliath this year and that he wouldn't score l50. I don't know anything about the scoring of Goliath, but I personally scored High Roller and I have been an official B&C scorer for 35 years. He fell off a little this year, but still scored 354 gross (23 less than last year) but had 43 scorable points. He's by far the biggest deer I've ever seen, including Goliath. Horace Gore
