What do you guys think? shooter or no! I ask that question because most of you guys have alot higher standards than me.
Any guesses on age? I guess 3-1/4.

I have a real thing about getting caught up in the moment. If it feels good, and you pick up your bow,
shoot and be proud of your accomplishment.

I also have a thing for split tines, that right side split G-3 is way cool.

The deer looks older than a 3 year old. Some deer, regardless of their age class, may never be a B&C buck if they lived to old age. I have a hard time aging deer after they are mature in body size. Some will claim to say they can tell the difference between a 5 and a 6 year old,...I call BS on that, unless they have a history with sheds and trail cam photos to back it up.

That looks like a mature buck to me and has real neat character.

It's about the hunt, not the numbers.

If that is not your goal, then hold off.

If your happy, shoot,...noone can tell you what makes you happy,...just ask my ex-wife.

I like how he looks and I so would a lot of people. If he is under your stand and you want to put an arrow in him I am sure you would have a lot more jealous people than critics. good luck

I dont shoot them unless it has a drop tine.

I think like Ghost. If it looks like a quality deer in your eyes. Take it.
Feel good about it.

Thats what hunting is all about I think.
Its whats in your heart.

Very nicely put Ghost...I'm glad people still feel that way in this day an age of not being happy with what you put on the ground cause it's not "big enough" for the internet forums. There's just too much of that going on now days.

That looks like one of those bucks that if coming straight toward me, I'd probably be thinking marginal. As soon as he turned sideways I'd probably be thinking "Shoot dummy"!! I can never truly say what I'm going to do until the situation presents itself and often times it happens really fast. I'd be interested to see how many people who claim to say let it pass would do the same if they had a similar buck in after a couple weeks of no shooters and a few seconds to make the call.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'm with Ghostie 100%...it's about the hunt and the experience and that is a large whitetail. My hunting partner always says to me what Ghostie said..

looks a little older than 3.5 to me with the snout. Great pic!!

The side profile of that buck would have be shooting, he isn't supper wide but looks like he will be a dandy deer. Smoke him

Nice character...should be easy to pick him out if he shows his face during bow season.

Dang good buck to take with a bow.

Sure he'd be even nicer next year, but what are the chances he'd make it???

It's hard to pass on deer like this one, but if you set goals then stick to them. Pass or shoot should be reflective of your goals, not caught in a moment...because once he's on the ground you won't get him back.

I agree with GHOST...do what makes you feel right...I know the hardest thing I've done while in a tree is knowing that I've been sitting for hours and days getting cold...little sleep and not seeing much for shooters. I've passed on deer like this one knowing that he didn't fit my goal and that I was content to take a doe at the end of the season. About a week after I passed him up a guy who "snuck" permission to hunt the same land ended up gut shooting him. I ended up finding the buck during gun season. Sure I was a little miffed, but I know in my mind I did what I felt was right and passed him up.

I hope in the week between me passing him and the other guy shooting him that he was busy "spreading his genes".

Part of hunting. Good luck with the season, it's always nice to know a deer like that is out there, even if it's just to observe. Be confident with your decision and stick to your goals.

Looks like a young deer, if you got a spot where you think he can get away it cant hurt to give him a year.

I'm not saying he isn't older than 3 or that I wouldn't shoot him as is, but I definitely don't think he is over-the-hill on antler growth. I agree with Scott I.C. He will likely be bigger next year. However, he likely might not make it another year. Either way, he's a great lookin buck with neat character. Look forward to hearing more stories about him, this year or next.
Good luck
