What would you guys suggest I buy for a good hunting boot.

I am leaving for a Wyoming Elk Hunt in just a little over a month and I will be needing a good hunting boot for walking and hiking in the mountains.

Suggestions?

I would suggest the Danner Pronghorn. Awesome boot, very comfortable and tough. Requires very little break in but I would go buy them today and wear them every minnute until you leave.

Yup, love my pronghorns. And the 1,000grams of thinsulate ones are the best boot that I've worn in below zero temps. You just can't beat Danner's

I'm on my 2nd set of 400's and also have a set of the 1000 grammers. I'd get them and wear them a lot before you go.

i have a pair of uninsulated pronghorns, and they are awesome. if i had the cash, i'd have the 400's and 1000's too

Pronghorns for walking....uninsulated for early elk.

I have an elk tag for the Black Hills of South Dakota in October. Temps can get fairly warm. I currently own/use the Danner Pronghorn with 400 grams of insulation. Will this boot be too hot if/when temps reach 80 degrees as they often do. I have been planning on buying another boot that is uninsulated but would like to spare the expense if possible. Any input would be appreciated.

I like the Danner Kestrels. It's all personal preference, but I would definitely lean towards danners.
