No decoy, no blind, just me doing a nice little spot and stalk in the hills after I got bored of sitting. (There's something about laying on your belly in the tall grass... very Kat-like, no?)
Not a monster, just a good eatin' 2 year old bird. 10" beard and 7/8" spurs, not sure on the weight, but by the time I carried him across the field it felt like he weighed 54.93 lbs.. I also found a little shed that was all chewed up and a few morels.
Oh yeah, didn't use the wingbone call this year, as I wanted to try out my new Mystic. I left all my gear behind during the stalk though, so I used my voice to call him in to 15 yards.
My next camera will have a remote. I’m getting tired of the "Run back before the timer goes off" game. There was a tom gobbling his head off in the creek right behind me the whole time I was taking harvest photos. I'm starting to think I'm invisible to turkeys.
