Governor Tags for VETERANS- Did I read this right?!?!?!

Am I reading this right?!?!? 40 of the 75 tags that are Governor Tags would be allocated to Disabled Veterans?!?!? NOW THAT IS COOL if I'm understanding right. If this is true- OUTSTANDING, in my opinion- putting priority to the real heroes in our country instead of special privileges for celebrities & elite who don't need to promote Iowa anymore than it already is. This would also help the NR who are waiting longer & longer for tags because of over-promotion (again, that's not needed). Folks need to email, call and support this if it's true. That's my opinion, what's yours? If you agree- voice this to your legislatures!! Please post this on some other sites if anyone is able & willing.



HF 2329 (formerly HF 2026), SF 2254 (formerly SF 2076), SPECIAL NONRESIDENT DISABLED VETERAN HUNTING LICENSES.Requires the NRC to issue special deer & turkey licenses for non-resident disabled veterans who are hunting in Iowa through a non-profit organization that helps such veterans hunt. License fees are to be the same as a resident. Requires the NRC to make 40 of the 75 special “celebrity” licenses currently available for the vets. Increases the number of special turkey licenses to 75 and makes 40 of these available for vets. Requires the non-resident vet to have a 30% service disability and to have been awarded the Purple Heart. Requires a hunter safety course. Amended & passed HVC & SVC. Eligible for H & S debate.
 
For those IBA members who get my updates and especially those that don't. This is the second email I sent out this morning.

I've gotten a couple emails inquiring about this bill so I want to clarify.

Many times I've ask that you contact your legislators against a piece of legislation but this is one I ask that you send letters in support. Few deer hunters in the U.S. have not heard about Ia. deer hunting so the promotion of the state isn't needed. The disabled vets on the other hand deserve our support and a thank you. We supported this bill in it's original form and still do after it was amended.
Contact your legislators and tell them to please support this bill.

Where is the best location to get all the contact information for the Legislatures???

In the past- I've emailed a couple & the Governor BUT I really feel this is worth all the support, voicing & effort we can muster. Folks need to email and/or call in! Even though many elites who get these tags know this is the right thing AND know how deserving Vets are- I am afraid they'll be contacting, lobbying & calling on the OTHER SIDE of this issue. FOLKS- you need to email & call with your support for this!

I believe it makes Iowa look better to give them to veterans than to the "celebrities".

The celebs don't care about Iowa . They just want to use iowa to make more videos and money.

I have as much pull as you and you have as much pull as me- the folks who don't write in have little or no pull. Where we will have a LOT OF PULL is... If people write in (email, whatever)... If folks agree with this and do nothing, it'll be much harder for this to happen. If folks really take 5 minutes to write in with a well written, respectful position of support- it will make a huge difference. Get off the butts, support this, support our TRUE heroes & the REAL CELEBRITIES of our country, support what's RIGHT, help reverse a unneeded & fundamentally flawed program (at least MOST the program will be "fixed" because of this) and take 5 minutes and get this done!!!

It looks great except the requirement for a hunter safety course. I think if you got wounded on the battlefield you know how to safely handle a weapon.
