Gray Wolf Woolens Question

I'm looking at purchasing at least a jacket/parka. What would everybody recommend for bowhunting? I know their stuff is custom fitted, but what's your experience with being able to layer underneath? Do you buy a size up or is their stuff built with a little slack. Also, what materials for insulation and outer shell? Again, I strictly bowhunt through November. No gun hunting or late season bowhunting when it's snowman weather. Thanks.

I gave Jeff my exact measurements and then told him what I wanted room for in case I had to layer. As far as bowhunting goes, I am in love with the bibs and the bowhunter pullover. The only thing that I believe are truly needed is the 3 straps on the bow arm and the double knees and double butt. The pullover has such a huge front pocket that you can fit a ton of your stuff in it once you get situated in the tree. I also had an extra draw cord put in the waist of the pullover (it comes with one on the bottom as well) to keep it tight to my midsection in the early season when I'm not layered. Another draw cord was put in the bibs waist as well for the same reason. It'll be some sticker shock, but you will have some of the best camo you can get and you won't be replacing it for many years, if ever.

Thanks Muddy. Did the pullover give you plenty of warmth when temps were around 20 degrees with proper layering, or would you recommend the jacket for those temps?

If you get the comformax and the liteloft in either one you will be equally warm. I just got the comformax (windstopper stuff i think) and did fine all season. If I were to do it over I'd do both liteloft and comformax in both the bibs and the pullover. I also think the hood is a waste of money as I highly doubted that I could anchor my release properly. Others may disagree on that, but I think I get the most benefit (better hearing, peripheral vision, and not having to move whole body to look around when the hood is up) out of a good stocking hat.

I just got my new jacket and bibs a couple of weeks ago. The stuff is awesome. Like Muddy did, I got the 3 straps on the sleeve and the additional draw cord on the back of the jacket. I got the ComforMax lining in the coat (looking at eventually getting a wool vest for underneath), but got the LiteLoft insulation in the bibs, double butt and knees.
The stuff is quality! You won't be disappointed.
