I just wanted to share with you my taxidermist doe decoy. Essentially a doe cape over a carrylite decoy. It looks a little rough from riding on the 4 wheeler this morning but he said you run a brush over the hide all the lines go out.

He shot a 150 8 pointer over her this morning after he had a 165 come in from behind her and stick his nose in its rear end. The way it came in though he couldn't get a shot and it was still fairly dark yet this morning. The big 8 came in and did the same thing but wasn't so lucky. He says its dynamite.

i am hoping to have one sometime in the future. I think it would be sweet!!

I think that would be a deal sealer right there. I have seen the effectiveness of the Hazel Creek turkey decoys, so I see no reason why that wouldn't work. Portability would suck though, and I would be awful careful carrying that through the woods!
 
He said it only cost him $25 bucks to do for materials. He had the decoy already. He also has it set up so you can add antlers to use it as a buck if you want. I am not sure what he would charge to do it for someone as I don't know how much time he has into it. You would also have to provide a large doe cape and the decoy. I do know it looks like the real deal once you set it up.

I want one bad!!!
 
I have everything but the cape and that wouldn't be hard to get from the locker. Hook a brother up:way:
 
I would like to know more about it as well. I assume you have to tan the hides like normal taxidermy. $25 seems pretty cheap. I got two carry lites that I would love to do this to
 
I can ask him about it and see if he would be interested in doing it for people. You do have to tan the hide and then need taxidermy eyes and I am sure a little paint. He tans the hides. Like I said the cost of material is fairly low he said but I don't know how much time he had into actually sewing it onto the decoy etc. His time is worth money to do it so I dont know what he would charge to do it.

Never hurts to ask. I know he has had amazing luck with his. All the bucks come right up and stick their nose in her butt. I didn't ask him how does react to it.
