Great hunting story and picture

I can't tell a story like some here but you have to hear this.

My brother in Texas has a very good friend that owns and operates a hunting ranch. They have deer, hogs, turkey, Axis deer, and black buck. My brother and another friend were there last weekend to try for an Axis deer. Most of the deer hunting there is done from box blinds placed somewhere near feeders from what I've seen but I've never been to this ranch so I don't know how they have it set up. Anyway, my brothers friend is setting in a blind that normally my brother sets in and my brother decides to try a different blind further away. As the daylight starts to bleed away, Pat, my brothers friend, is watching a doe and two fawns browse about 70 yards away. They had been there for several minutes when he saw what he was sure was a bobcat streak into the middle of those three deer at full speed. The doe and one fawn escape but the other fawn must have met it's fate. Pat can't quite see what going on because this all happened behind some mesquite trees, and this all happened in a matter of just a few seconds. Now the curiousity get's the best of him and he exit's the blind and heads to the scene only to find the fawn laying there dead. Since this is a ranch where they have a bioligist monitoring the health of the deer herd they take any animal they find back to the lodge so test's can be done. So Pat drags the fawn back to the dirt road where everyone meets up and he tells the story. They leave the fawn lay in a ditch and walk a ways down the road to the truck and return to pick it up and now it's gone. The cat either followed them or followed the scent to retrieve what was rightfully his.

So my brother and Pat and the owner decide to try to do a little predator hunting that night. After some calling they coaxed in this cat and the owner shot him. Although they can't be 100% sure it is the same cat they think it is more likely him than not. He was quite large, 35 lbs, and had a belly full of meat.

The little boy is the owners son I think.

I guess bobcats are common in Texas and it's legal to hunt them. I know coyotes are real common.

When I was down in Texas last spring there were bobcats laying dead along the side of the road. I asked the guys that I was hunting with and they said they are very common down there. I did happen to catch a glimpse of a couple while setting in a blind, but by the time I grabbed my video they were no where to be found, crafty little boogers. These two cats seemed to be working the doves and quail that were hanging around the feeder area. It would be cool to stick one with a bow.

At first glance I thought the cat was alive! Looks like its enjoying being petted. sweeeet.
