Out of the barrel of my flint pistol. What a cool ending and new beginning to a mans life.
When Dick passed away last spring, his request was to be cremated and his ashes shot out over the Loup river at Cairo Nebraska. Today, many of us that knew him, gathered there, and with two cannon and three of us with muzzleloaders that used to belong to him, honored his wishes. The weapons were loaded with his remains and then fired out across the river. It was a sight to behold with the huge cloud of white smoke and ash gently drifting with the wind down stream. Afterwords, a large meal and celebration was had by most in attendance.
I've got to say, I really like the way this was done. No tears, no long procession or funeral, just a simple celebration of his life by those that knew him.
See you at rendezvous Dick:way:
