I had a fella pick up his upper 150's rack from me today. He gave up to early. I located it by chance. Don't surrender. My bow kill was in the rain this year and I had zero blood trail, With help from Maggs it was located.
The deer could'nt be far.
Good luck.

Re: great moring hunt ends in disaster............

That's too bad Ia. Buckhunter. I too had a bad experience this weekend. I rattled in a 150 inch 10 pointer at 3:00 sun. afternoon. He offered a 25 yd shot but was not quartering away, he was broad-side. I know I was shaking because I could feel my heart pounding in my neck! I took the shot and it was a little too far back. He also walked away slowly and never really bled much. I watched him for over an hour as he bedded down about 100 yds from me. Then for no reason he got up and walked away. I stayed in my stand until dark and went home only to find out there was a chance of rain early Mon. morning. I did not sleep well all night, but I knew I had to leave him alone until morning. I got on his trail before the rain came but after a 1/4 mile of tracking it started coming down. My buddy and I had almost given up because the buck was still climbing steep banks and had not bedded down anymore. I started feeling really sick to my stomach as the blood trail was disapearing. We had spent hours looking and putting flagging tape at each hint of sign when the blood was all gone. I found a big set of tracks in the soft ground and the leaves were kicked up so I knew they were fresh. I just started following them and two ridges later walked up on my buck, bedded down. I was so releived. I was able to stalk within 20 yard and give him a fatal shot. After gutting him I found my first shot had hit low on his left lung and pierced the liver. It was a pass through but he still didn't bleed that much at all. I can't beleive he went as far as he did. Don't give up. Get you friends and just scour the area, chances are he'll turn up. good luck.
