what's a good ground cover around my ponds on the dikes for erosion control was thinking about a type of vetch but not sure like it to be a perennial. just had a guy brush cut around my ponds .
 
Brome, fescue, clovers (preferably red). I’d be putting oats down with it as well 100%. U can buy “waterway mixes” - they are sod forming & hold the soil. I’m not a cool season grass fan but they are critical in highly erodible situations.

Agreed Skip. The same sod forming traits that work against us for prime habitat, work for us in these situations.

Ironic - I'm working hard trying to get fescue to grow in my yard... while killing it everywhere else on the farm..
