Gun safes? Recommendations, 10 guns I own, good value, delivery?

So I own about 10 guns. Maybe, let's say down the road it hits 15 with kiddo's, etc. These are not "irreplaceable items" - these are current model standard guns. I'm not storing Grandpa's 75 year old shotgun or civil war guns. I simply would like a basic, good quality safe to keep rascals out and be able to keep the humidity low and have enough room.
Also, never moved a safe so some sort of delivery be nice. Price: not needing the cadillac of safes, I really am not. Basic, solid & functional. If my house burns up, if the guns go with em, I'll buy more (as crappy as that is to say) with insurance. Replaceable items but for the meantime, looking for a great value on a simple but high quality safe that will house 15 guns & some supplies comfortably and not kill the pocket book. Whatcha think?!?!? THX!

First, Whatever the safe is rated as for guns (20,30,etc) you can pretty much cut that number in half, especially if you have many long guns with scopes. So buy bigger than you think.

I have a Liberty, 35 gun capacity with a 75 minute fire rating. I have been told by every firefighter I know that if the safe sees a fire it is toast so I dont know that fire rating means much. Mine is a tank, 780lbs empty. 4 of us moved it up 14 stairs but if I could do it again I would have paid a couple hundred to deliver it. Most guys around here will get them to your house but you have to get it to its final destination, so I will hire movers next time.

I would get a safe that has 4-sided bolts, Had a break in and they couldnt touch the door nor the bolts even though they tried. Also, talk to them about a door curtain for pistols and accessories. I did not get a factory one and when I went to install an after market one Liberty told me it would void the warranty.

I am sure there are many other recommendations that people will have this is just a few quick ones I could think of

I bought a cannon safe from tractor supply. Not super high end but does give me piece of mind that kids cannot get to my guns. I like that half is shelves for other items like binos, ammo and spare keys, ect. They delivered to my garage and I had three other guys help move it. Wasn't too bad getting it to my basement with a fridge dolly but will probably never try to get it back out of the basement.

I agree with everything Kratz said. Buy bugger than you need by double at the least. Get a golden rod dehumidifier rod. Pay someone to carry it in the house. When I got my dads 60 gun safe I wanted nothing to do with moving it. 1000 pounds and even though I could get friends to move it I didn't want to take a chance of someone getting seriously hurt. I called around and the safe company actually recommended a company that they had signed up to move my brand of safe. It cost $500 the move it 100 miles and brought into my house and put EXACTLY where I wanted it put. Those poor bastards earned their money, and I'm glad I payed it because grassy yards and hills are leg breakers. I drank beer and supervised.

Bought the 48 Cannon gun safe from Menard's in Clive. Cheapest place i found plus waited till their monthly 11% off. It's special order. They will deliver. Nothing fancy but Cannon has the lifetime Warranty. Wooden hardwood dowels are the ticket to moving (rolling) it once inside a house.

I have the same philosophy on my guns at you do. If my house burns down or I get stolen blind, I have insurance. But I want them secure and safe from kids and some decent deterrent. I went with a stack on gun cabinet. They claim 31 guns, but like everyone else says, cut that about in half. It is a solidly built, can be bolted to the floor if you want can have storage on one side. I found mine on sale 2 years ago for $350. I love it. Perfect for what I was looking for.

I also suggest an el cheapo second safe to store ammo in. Keeping ammo separate from guns is a big deal in my opinion, especially with kids

I completely agree with the above assessments about size and fire rating. I've never seen a gun safe hold as many firearms as they claim without some innovative arranging, especially if the firearms have scopes. If you have 10 guns and plan for up to 15 by the time you're done, look at a 28-30 gun safe. You'll have plenty of room for other family valuables (birth certificates, passports, wills, etc.). I have two Cannon safes and will probably always gravitate towards cannon because of their warranty. Warranty is the biggest factor, in my opinion. In the event you have an issue, most places will require you to pay to ship the safe back to them (~$250) and then charge you shipping to ship it back or ship the new one back to you (~$250). Cannon covers ALL shipping charges on warranty returns. Having survived a house fire when I was younger, I have yet to see many fire departments that can have a house fire under control in less time than the fire rating of most safes.
