Havalon Piranta Knives

Hardcorehunter

UL Shelter/Stove Geek
Elk Reaper turned me onto these knives and I got mine a few weeks ago. The lure to these is that you always have a sharp blade, and if a blade gets dull, you just replace them. Blades are simple to change, the knives come with a dozen extra blades and I bought an extra 100 blades for $16. The blades are Stainless Steel surgical blades and are SHARP. Elk Reaper uses them to dress his elk, he only uses only top notch gear, so I figured they are good enough for me too. I bought the Piranta Tracer, as it is their latest and accepts 3 different blade types. I went with a 100 of the drop point #22 model. Here is a description and link.

Versatile Piranta Tracer-22
Fits Blades #20-25, #25XT and #60!
You asked and we delivered. The new Havalon Piranta Tracer-22 fits the #22 surgical blade, the most popular blade used by professional taxidermists. As an added bonus, the Piranta Tracer-22 fits all of the blades in the 20 thru 25 range, plus the 22XT AND the 60XT blades.

Pros use the #22 for a variety of situations including caping. The rounded-edge 22XT can give you greater control in situations where you don't want to accidentally cut through the hide. With your order you will receive one dozen #22 stainless steel blades included at no extra cost. Additional blades can be purchased in dozens or boxes of 100 located in the "Replacement Blades" section of this store.

To have a knife that fits all three Havalon blade sizes, choose this Tracer. The frame is rugged aluminum alloy with easy-grip rubber inserts. It's a Havalon, so it's lightweight - just less than three ounces.

Here is a pic next to a Buck vanguard so you can see just how little these are. I was a little shocked at how little these are, but way too many testimonials of guys doing up elk and moose with them.

I just ordered the Havalon Piranta-Edge (Blaze Orange) Surgically-Sharp #60XT Replac... 1 $28.95

Sub Total: $28.95

Now I'll have 2 styles of blades and two great knifes for the cost of what one decent one costs in a style that needs sharpened.

Lots of positive reviews on these Pirantas.

Looks like a great knife. Will the blades break easily? That would be my only concern. Thanks for the info.
