I would like to THANK ALL IA bowhunters !!!! You have been great in answering my question's
and giving me your opinions and direction... Many have emailed information and while I have not
been lucky / to have connected with a hunter from zone 3. I have gotten a lot of support from all
other zone's guess I should have put in for zone 1 or 4 don't seem like huntN much good in zone3
no other hunters there anyway...JUST KIDDING... You all have been great !
I have hunted many other state's but I'm really looking forward to IA you guy's get my vote for
sportmen of the YEAR!
Well if it's not to much to ask please keep your opinion's & information coming my way , you can rest
asured it will be gone over with a fine sharp arrow and put to use... Mean time I'm going to keep
looking for a farm or two that someone will let 2 bow huntN nuts from 1500miles away hunt...
If it don't happen we will be enjoying the huntN on state land... But again THANK YOU IA hunters for
being so open to US we will not let ya down... A huntN Friend MXZ ....

MXZ, Hey are not the administrators fo this great site Zone 3 hunters ???:)(sorry I couldnt resist) Ok seriously though I live in and hunt in zone 3. Zone 3 covers alot of ground did you have a specific area in mind ? Also the state land in the Loess Hills is great hunting on a bad day, if worse comes to worse. Anyway leave me you email address and we can take the rest of this off line.

There is no substitute for actually going out there ahead of time and doing some leg work.

I drew a tag for zone three several years ago and went out in the summer to do some looking around. While my wife and I were sitting at a cafe/bar eating lunch one day a local farmer (in zone three) came over and struck up a conversation with us. The end result was that he offered us permission to hunt his farm which was well over three hundred acreas. I was sure happy I went out and looked around at that point.

Good luck

Rut

THEBAD : My Email is red71@surfglobal.net
( ya hooo ) looking forward to hearing from ya...
A HuntN Friend MXZ....

rutnbuck : I do agree with ya and would love to come out scouting and may just do that.
How ever the $$$ & Vac. time that I spend will take a way from my hunting time & $$$..
As nice as the hunters are in IA that must be a reflextion of all in IA, so I'm sure if I get a chance to talk with a farmer or two they will soon see that I am an avid bowhunter who puts ETHIC's on top of his hunting list. And if they allow hunting they will feel safe allowing us a chance to hunt. I personally don't hold it against anyone who pays for there land if they don't want us to hunt, but at the same time I really respect those who give hunters a chance. Being so far away makes it hard but I have to hunt where the quallity bucks are!! we really did not think we would get tags this year so we have started out much better than we thought .

And on top of that the IA hunters have been just unreal in supporting our questions & giving directions, opinions it been a great start & it really has not started YET!!! Thanks rutnbuck.. A huntN friend from VT... Home of not many BUCK but small one's..

MXZ, Just curios where in Vermont you're from? My wife and I vacationed there last fall.............what color the state of Vermont has in the fall!!

guitarzan : I live in Underhill it is about 40 min. out side of Burlington headed toward the MT.Mansfield mountains....Yes the color's here in the fall are outstanding. If your here 1st -2nd week in Oct. the wood are just alive with color. Guess I'd trade it in a min. for some quallity buck . Something we don't have.
We get what we call leaf peepers from all over the country each fall, they come just to see the mountains with all the different colors. And then we get ski'ers as well in the winter. And course we have the world famus Vermont Maple sryup that many will drive 1000 miles to get...how ever not to hound on the subject but we have NO BIG RACKS !!! None , well maybe there is one some where. I live 1 mile back off paved road on top of a ridge real nice in the fall color's are just out of this world...But did I tell ya we got NONE well maybe one big buck some where in those big mountains BIG Mountains!!! Your HuntN friend MXZ... pS if you ever come UP this way again give me a call...
