Hearing Enhancement

Do any of you use any hearing enhancement while hunting?I have thought about looking into the Walker Game Ear and SportsEar,but for the price is scary on some of the products.I had some hearing loss after being in the service, and have never been good about protecting my ears while shooting, working on race cars and riding Harleys for 25 yrs.

My brother is hearing impaired and he bought one. From what he said, save your money. I tried it on and could never really tell the difference. That was several years ago when they first came out, they might be better now.

What was that?

I don't know about the small ones that fit in your ear, but I have a pair of the Walker Range muffs and they are as good as advertised. I have the original ones with one microphone in each ear, not the quads. At the range I can hear people's conversations from easily 50 yards away. They can also be adjusted to pick up different levels depending on what types of sounds you have trouble hearing. Like you said they are expensive though.

I have a pair of the walker's quad muffs for shooting trap/skeet/sporting clays. They work good. They do suck if there is any background noise because they amplify ALL sounds. So if you hunt where a highway is close by or say a fan on a grain bin or hog confinement they will drive you crazy. If not then I would say they should help. There are a lot of different brands out there like walker's, pro ears, sportears ect. The prices run from under a $100 to $1000+ depending on the brand and type (muff/inner ear) so I would be sure to try several types. Some of the inner ear styles are actually programmed to your specific frequency loss and custom fit/molded to your ear but they run $600-$1000+.
