Heat and Antler Growth?

Here is something a long time farmer told me, down in SE Iowa ,near my land. He said expect antlers not to be so good this season due to the effects of the long heat spells in the area. I have never heard this one before. Is there any truth to this. He was serious, not trying to pull my leg. Or is this just another OLD FARMER TAIL?

Never heard that? I always tended to believe that they might grow more during hot weather if they were geting the right nutrition. I think their antlers could act as radiators & help cool them during the growing statges. Maybe that's why Texas is noted for large antlers? Just another twist to the old farmers tail but only the deer know for sure.
