Help hanging my mounts?

ISHEDHUNT

I’m looking for suggestions on a fail safe method of hanging your mounts. It always seems to be a pain trying to locate studs behind drywall even with the stud locator. Does anyone have or know a method or hanger that I can use so I don’t have to locate the studs. I really don’t want to go punching holes in the wall of the new house. I don’t think Steph would care too much for that.

So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

If I can't locate a stud, I've always just used drywall anchors. They seem to be plenty strong enough.

Ditto.

Chris, I can't believe you didn't put a horizontal 2X6 the parameter of your basement behind the drywall or where ever you planned on hanging them...

I just put plywood all the way around my game room underneath the sheetrock and can move anywhere I want. This is is good, because I finally have my moose getting worked on by my taxidermist and when done will basically require that I move everything

I feel your pain with the stud locations. When I did my new house I vowed never to deal with that pain in the arse again. So far its been great!

I guess if you have the extra money for all that plywood, but .25 cent wall anchors are a bit more affordable for myself.

Last time I checked plywood was pretty cheap

...obviously it wouldn't work in his case, since he is already in his house, but for someone reading this that might be building it will save you a lot of time and headaches, not to mention some nasty sheetrock holes if a mount pulls out.

I just had the same problem last week when I got my new mount back. I used a hanging hook like the one for pictures. The difference is they have three tiny nails. Make sure when you go to the store you get the one that is rated for like 65-75 lbs. They hold perfect.

I don't know if this is what you call a dry wall anchor or not. But thats the only way I know how to describe it.

You know the saying, "The man who dies with the most toys wins!"

Use the metal anchors that you have to screw the screw into first to set the anchor, i used a plastic one and the mount fell off the wall! Metal anchors are better, only bad thing is that once they are there they arent going any where, which could be a good thing also i guess.

Dor,

Thanks, great idea that I will be put'n to use this summer.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give the metal drywall anchors a try. If that don't work I guess I can always hang them at some of you guys place.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to arrange them.

Remember to plan/allow for additions! A rookie mistake I soon will be fixing addressing in my man cave!

After reading all this it makes me wonder how you guys can figure out a way to kill a 160" deer but can't work a stud finder. ???
