I am craving mushrooms and it is too dry here in the parkersburg area. I got some time off this weekend and would really like to travel anywhere they are growing. I am not asking permission to hunt any ground just asking what part of the state has enough moisture and is growing a few? I am scared this rain might be too late to grow any new ones but it should have rehydrated a few that were up and dry. Thanks for any help.

SE IA is getting hammered with rain all weekend. You should be good to find some in this area. I have not found any yellows yet so I think you should be good for hunting them based on timing still.

We have been finding them since April 6th in Southeast Iowa. Yellows started popping up around the 14th. But that is on the islands. They start popping up a few days later in normal soil.

We usually find them until right around Mothers day.

Hit Stephens State Forest, it's loaded with shrooms. Just watch out for parked vehicles, as they could likely be Turkey hunters...

The des moines river around boone is usually pretty good. My buddy picked up 60 two days ago and he wasn't even looking. tons of public to look, just watch out for turkey hunters!!

anywhere around the des moines river from boone to saylorville is good, ive been seeing a lot of people come out of the woods with grocery bags full the past couple days
