I know that some of you guys are very talented in this department. I need some advice. I have plans to have 3 knives made this year. I have 3 main properties that I hunt and all 3 landowners are super awesome guys that let me come and go as I please and invite anyone, anytime, to their property. I feel as I own the places w/o having to pay for them. Well, I would like to give each of these landowners a custom knife. I plan on the handle of the knife being made from a shed that I have picked up on each one of these properties. I think the knives would be special to each guy knowing that their property helped create the knife.
Now for the dilema. I have spoken to one individual here in KC that I know who makes some incredible knives. Problem is, his prices START at $500. Is this the norm for a custom blade? What are my options? Can I buy a quality off the shelf knife and then have an antler handle made for it? Is that a lame idea? What size/shape shed works well for knife handles? I only have a few decent sized sheds from one of my properties.
As you can see, I have alot of questions as to how to get started with this. I got alot more ?'s but am tired of typing. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Maybe I just go the $500 route and will just have to do 1 landowner a year for the next 3 years.
Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
