I have 20 acres in southern iowa i bought a few years ago to deer and turkey hunt only.meaning i don't live there to watch it.got a new neighbor 3 yrs ago who does live there with his large family,i.e.(7 kids)I need advice on how to control trespassing without creating problems. The kids ride their atv's in my woods and do alot of exploring year around.my wildlife sightings have greatly reduced, and now they have 15/20 mut dogs breeding like rabbits running all over my place.don't want a hatfield and mccoy problem but it has taken away from my enjoyment of this property.is it legal to harvest wild dogs?looking for advice.MELCHER/DALLAS

I would start by posting "No Tresspassing without Written Permission" signs.

If that doesn't work, have a face to face conversation with the party in question.

If that still doesn't work, I would send a letter to the party, with a CC: to the County Sheriff.

If that fails, get the Sheriff involved.

And yes, there is such a thing as feral dogs...............

Good luck.

Well I live in Southern Iowa and maybe I could help you with your problem. My neighbor and I had the same problem. Once someone has permission down here they think they have permission for life so he just started telling everyone that it was in a lease and now he doesnt have control over the land so to speak. So needless to say I sound like the bad guy now because I only let people I know on the ground when I am hunting and nothing else and seems like it has taken care of the problem for the most part. If that dont work take Blakes approach

Talk to the guy face to face and start shooting his worthless dogs. If he doesn't care for his dogs why should you.
