How do you make sense of it all??? I'm talking about diaphram calls and what you should select and avoid. I know nothing about calls and Im a Turkey rookie, so all help and suggestions are needed.

I want to purchase a couple mouth calls and have worked out a deal with Wood Wise, so its them I will select from.

Help me choose a couple calls. Tell why that particular one or two (style, sound, result), and thats what I'll get.

This should help clear up alot of confusion on the part of us begginers and thanks alot for the help.

I know nothing about Woods Wise calls, sorry. All I do know is that in the world of mouth diaphragm calls you have to try a bunch before you find one that really fits your mouth and is both comfortable and easy to use.

I have always had luck with Hunter Specialties calls but since I generally use my own voice to make turkey sounds I quit buying mouth calls many years ago. Good luck in your decision.

single reeds are going to be sharper, more high pitched.

more reeds bring the pitch down a bit, and cuts in the reeds adds rasp.

just read the description offered for each call and make your best guess.

i saw a commercial for "foam fit" calls from quaker boy, that looked interesting.

I've tried pretty much every mouth call out there and the call that's always in my mouth when a bird dies is the Hunters Specialties, particularly the Cuttin' Light 2.5.

I agree with this one.

Though not the light I always have a cuttin 2.5 or two with me.
They make some of the most realistic sounds IMO.

it is good to start with an easy to run call, HS's 2.5 is a great choice!

but when you are ready to move on to a nice brand, Wood Haven is pretty much the BEST mass production company out there IMO.

the harder the call is to run, the better it will sound. but start easy, it will help you out!!!

if you got a bad gag reflex, try trimming the tape back till it is comfortable

I love HS any of their calls are solid but I also love Hooks Custom calls they have a wedsite where you can order from awesome calls!!!!

Gotta agree with THA4. Woodhaven calls get my vote! A little pricier but great quality and sound!

Those foam fit calls feel nasty in your mouth, and they make you gag like crazy hahaha

I bought the quaker boy foam fits last year. I didn't like them at all. Hate to bash them, but they did not do anything for me.
