Hen and jenny double

kbgibby

Threebeards
A buddy of mine doubled first thing Saturday morning on a hen and jenny. He was just getting set up when the hen dropped down out of the trees about 50 yds away, followed by several others just over a ridge. He set up a decoy quick and did some calling and the hen came right in ... Blam. In the commotion, the jenny just ran back and forth and he got her too!

I was on a deer stand and heard the shots ... unfortunately it didn't help move any deer in my direction. %#$%@#$^ wind!!!!

Nice Looking Birds. A shotgun blast will keep you from snoozing up there. I have a turkey question: Would the Jakes and Jennies in the fall be this year, or last year's hatch?

He was probably about a 1/4 mile away, so it wasn't too loud. Actually, with the wind, at first I thought it was a neighbor shooting geese on a pond.

I guess I'd look at them as this past spring's birds. When the new crop of chicks hatches, the jakes and jennies "graduate" to tom and hen status. Don't know if that's technically correct but that's how I've always looked at it.

That's also the way that I have always looked at it threebeards. Tell your friend congrats!
