Here's a great looking buck

Thought you would enjoy seeing this big non-typical that I saw on a wall a couple weeks ago. It was found dead south of Des Moines, and it was scored at 221. The picture really doesn't do it justice - the mass on the deer is tremendous.

Here's another angle that gives a little more perspective on it's size. The mount was high up on the wall, and I was standing on a chair (on wheels) to get these photos. Enjoy !!

Hey guys,

Could you ask the owner to contact me about possibly putting the deer into appropriate record books please?

Nice buck but I do know what you mean about pictures not doing the deer justice. This buck, shot in Monona County in 1996, is 240". The pictures aren't as jaw dropping as it was in realtime. Must have something to do with the wall.

Thought that looked like Loess soil on his main beams! Where about's in Monona? I grew up in Onawa.

The first buck reminds of the deer I shot two years ago. Seriously, they could be brothers. Lots of mass.

And what the hell is this thing?

up my RACK!

Elkhunter, that is correct. Also, the camp director is a bowhunting addict, and took a nasty fall this year while hanging a stand during the bow season. He was in bad shape for a few days with broken ribs, and I think a collapsed lung. A few days later, since he couldn't hunt, he was playing guide for a friend and was driving him around, trying to decide where he should take him to hunt. They came up on a buck that had just been hit by the car in front of them. He got out, grabbed his bow, and finished off a 188 inch buck that wasn't going to be able to get back up. Man, talk about really bad luck turning into really good luck. Granted, it wasn't the type of hunt he normally plans, but it sure was a good plan B.

Hey Camo
Earl's my little brother. We really had plenty to be thankful for at Thanksgiving, after his fall.A man from Lynnville did the taxidermy work. He does a great job.

Really ? Earl's a great guy. I really look forward to going to the camp, because I come back with some great deer stories. Are you going to be at the Sportsmen's weekend ? I will be up there with some friends on the second weekend of the event.

I taught Earl everything he knows about deer hunting, except how to shoot a bow.I'll be at 24 hrs part of both weekends.See you there!
