We're getting into the bighead carp over here on the Missouri River. Biggest one here went 35-40 lbs. Let me know when you want to come!

pharmer - I suppose it helps a little but we just drift into the corners of the wing dikes an find them there.

To answer a few questions these are chinese bighead carp. They are non-native to American waters so the DNR could care less how many you shoot.

They are filter feeders that feed on plankton and were introduced to catfish farms in Missouri to help control the plankton blooms. One flood 20 years ago was all it took to get these into the river system.

They are very spooky and will sink out of sight at the slightest noise in the boat so you have to be very quiet and try to drift into a pod of them.

They are also one of the better tasting fish I have eaten.

Prepared how, smoked?

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like you have the system down! One of these days I'll get some gear gathered up and head northwest.

Are they as bony as native carp?
