Today at work around 2:30pm I answered a phone call from the 13 year old son of one of the ladies I work with. After giving her the phone it was obvious by her reaction that something traggic had happened. After trying to calm her son on the phone she hangs up and dials 911 and says, "my son just called me at work and said he shot his friend..." After a long hour of waiting to find out what happened we get a call telling us that the boy that had been shot had died. Now the day gets really long. Finally at 8:00pm I get a call at work from my friend telling me what happened.
Her son was in the living room watching TV and went into his room to see where his buddy was only to find him setting on his bed holding his .22 rifle, butt down on his knee, barrel upward. Her son said to his friend that he wasn't supposed to have his gun out and grabbed the gun at the stock to take it from him. When he pulled the gun away the barrel tipped back towards his friend and it went off hitting him in the head.
Apparently one of the two touched the trigger when it was pulled away. Obviously the gun was loaded. I don't know if the friend loaded it or if was left loaded. A traggic turn of events either way. At this point it is being ruled an accident pending further investigation.
The gun was a gift from his Grandfather who is, like us, an avid hunter and of course is blamming himself for what happened.
The favor I'm asking is for all of you who will, please pray for this family and for the family who lost their son, that God will help them through this traggic time in their lives.
I think of you guys as my friends or I wouldn't come to you with this request.
Thanks, "Rackaddict"
