Hope he makes it

Checked the cam today after the 2 week gun season here and caught this wounded buck at mid day. Sure hope he makes it but after zooming in on the wound I'm not too sure, it's very large wound and a there's lot of muscle exposed.

I'm not a fan at all of the gun season here in Pa, mostly because of the high powered rifles blasting around the neighborhood. I refuse to participate in the two week slaughter of anything goes. We need shot gun only for several days like the great mid-west!

Is he missing part of his back leg too? Deer are some of the toughest animals out there. You'd be surprised on what they can bounce back from.

I have hunted both on east coast and in Iowa. I see very few wounded deer like that here in IA. Cant believe that shot gunning running deer does not wound many. I firmly believe that the coyotes in IA make quick work of the wounded deer. When I huned the east coast the coyote pop was very low. Have seen 3-5 yr old deer in MD wounded for life.

Pretty sad,if i saw this deer i would shoot it no questions asked. With that deer being like that i would just want to put him out of his misery.

Man, I didn't even notice the back leg. I zoomed in ot it and there no meat on the lower part, can't tell if the hoove is there or not. Makes me sick in the stomach seeing that. I know they surive a lot of injuries as lonr as infection doesn't set in.

I passed a big 3 legged 6 point years ago that survied having his front leg blown off the year before and one of the severest winters we ever had with a couple inches of ice and 4' of snow on top of that into March with temps down to -23 for a couple days. Amazing animals!
