Hornady SSTs in bulk

SST 50 packs

A little better price than buying them 20 at a time, though I haven't priced them in awhile. I don't know if they come with sabots and it appears one would have to call and ask (you can't click on the part number to view the item). I'll probably stick with the XTP's though as I didn't like the way the 250 grain SST fragged on me.

Part numbers 0000345202 and 0000345207 are the bullets most people are probably familiar with.

Most people shoot .452 bullets inside of a .50 sabot in their .50 caliber ML's. Are you shooting sabotless? That is a trend that seems to be growing.

If you like the XTP bullets, go in to Wal-Mart near the end of the season, and they practically give those away. I save a lot of money on bullets and powder there.

I can buy Hornady 250 grain XTPs off the shelf, without sabots, for around $18/hundred. I would be interested in hearing what the clearance price you are talking about is...

No, I am simply clueless. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif I go and buy mine 15 at a shot and buy the box marked 50cal. I just wasn't separating the sabot caliber and bullet caliber. I'll reread this post.

Since I doubt the sabots will come with the SST's from MidSouth shooters, I would (and do) buy my sabots from MMP Sabots.

I buy the .50 caliber black (the ones that say "for Savage shooters" under them /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif ).

If a person wants to fool around at the range and try to squeeze the most out of your gun, you might pick up some black HPH12's and HPH24's. They have different petal thicknesses so you can find the snugness of bullet/sabot that your gun prefers. Between sabots, bullets, primers and varying the powder load, a person could really spend some time at the range. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

From a previous JNRBRONC post ...... <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">why make it harder than it needs to be? </div></div>

Sorry JNRBRONC, you made that one way too easy. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I use the KISS approach, I've only shot one of the three powders I bought, stuck with the first sabots and only changed from the SST's to the XTP's when I found the SST's too explosive. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Reading a couple of ML forums, it seems that there is always someone trying to shave a thousandth of an inch off a group.... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

I may be giving you a hard time but it's the same process for the sidelocks. Find the right patch, proper ball, powder amount, the list goes on and on. Don't know about you but it's good therapy for me.
As for SST's, I have heard that they can perform very well but are very sensitive to velocity.
Keep yer powder dry.
