Hotles In Des Moines and Other classic stuff

Im trying to book a cheep place to stay while Im out in Iowa for the Iowa Deer Classic. I got a hotel on hotwire.com for $29 a night- 2 1/2 star or a $71 a night- 3 star. Were do you think they will put me for $29 dollars? Im thinking the BestWestern or Holiday Inn? Any hole in the walls in Downtown Des Moines?
Also whats the best day for the classic? I think I'll come out on the 4th and go to the show the 5th and maybee the 6th, then leave that night. When will everyone else be thier?

I will be arriving in the mighty Des Moines on Saturday, which is the 5th, I believe. Hopefully nice and early so I can walk around the classic, visit at the Iowawhitetail booth, and then hit the IBA banquet and listen to Chucky Adams talk.

Muddy, you live far from Des Moines? Any chance of shed hunting on the 4th for the day, what else is thier to do in Des Moines. What are the local attractions? I think I got it,
$161 for air travel ( inn on noon 3rd, out morning 6th.) this leaves me 3rd for sights, 4th shed hunting and 5th classic. $40 night hotel with all amenities= $120. This could be fun.
 
medicsnoke, there will be no way i am going to be free on Friday. My wife returns from one of her month long medical out rotations on the 3rd and I plan on staying indoors ALL night. Sunday I will be leaving before noon unless OneCam and Co. need help tearing the booth down again. Sorry, I just found this all out within the past few days in trying to plan the next few months out.

all4s, the IBA banquet is at the same place I believe. I think there is more information in the IBA forum somewheres. Can't wait to see ya again, I believe I owe you 7 or 8 drinks!

medicsnoke, IF you want to drive to Iowa sometime in February I may be able to take you shedding somewhere then. My wifey wife will be gone the whole month so I should be able to work something out.
 
Thats all right Muddy, It look like it will be cheeper to fly inn on the 3rd, so this gives me more time than I really need. Just trying to fill some of the time. I'll figure something out. Im sure Ide be free to help tear down if you guys need the extra hand.
 
Well, I'm guessing that you might be able to get pointed in the right direction by somebody. Sorry I couldn't deliver.
 
Eric, the banquet is in the same place as last year. It wil however be changing names to the Sheraton Inn a few weeks before the banquet. Let me know if you want to sit with the IW tables again this year.

Do you think Urbandale is too far away from the Convention Complex to stay at. The best rates are in Urbandale, How long of a drive and what do you think a Taxi fair would be? Sorry for ll these questions......
 
As long as you are renting a car you'll find everything very convenient to Urbandale. 20 minutes tops to downtown. We live right here in town and providing my schedule doesn't go crazy I would love to take you out for a shed stomp. We'll go out where Onecam hunts and look for all of his prospects.

Dude, you all know that she is WAY smarter than me! She is getting an advanced degree in anestesia after all. She knows when I have been naughty and nice, sees RIGHT through me. I have to be reasonably good or else I might not wake up one morning.
