BOONE – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has added a new webpage showing a summary of hunter-reported deer and turkey harvest in Iowa by county.
To view the page, go to http://www.iowadnr.gov and click on hunting and wildlife, then click on Deer and Turkey Harvest by County in the far left column under Common Requests. The information is updated hourly by Central Bank, of Jefferson City, Mo., who manages the DNR license sales system.
“The page went live a few weeks ago and so far we’ve had no problems,” said Steve Roberts, biological statistician with the DNR’s Boone Research Station. The information covers the current deer and fall turkey hunting seasons, as well as the reported harvest from the 2007 spring turkey season.
Roberts said he received a number of inquiries on deer harvest by county last year, and this new website should allow people to get that information faster, 24 hours a day.
