How often? How many? Ratio?

Just a question as I think about checking my trail cams this next week...I'm getting the itch to pull the card.


How often do all of you check in June/July?

How many deer do you have on cam per week (on average)?

And what is the ratio of bucks to does that you see on camera?


I don't think I'm crossing any lines in asking this, just want to know if I need to be moving my camera in comparison to others or if I'm where I need to be...

Too often! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Kid in a candy store. I try to go on two week intervals. I'm getting better about leaving them alone longer than a week. Though really, a week is probably a good survey of what is in the area this time of year.

How many deer or how many pics? I'm sure I get repeat offenders. Over a mineral lick, 150-200 pics a week with the 5 minute delay setting. I ran a cam on a trail for a week earlier this month and got 40 pics.

Mineral lick buck/doe ratio right now is something like 1 buck photo out of 7-10. The trail cam pics were dominated by bucks, most likely because of the trail I picked. There are so many variables to getting ratio numbers off of trail cams that I don't even try. YMMV.

I have noticed certain spots seem to preferred by does and others by bucks, so cams over 2 different mineral licks show entirely different ratios. Guess they like to live in different places.
