Honestly the only pictures anyone can really judge are late September to late oct. beyond those dates deer lose age characteristics.
Also not every deer that isn't 170 is 3.5 years old in Iowa. That's the one thing that drives me nuts on here. There's waaaay and I mean waaayyyyy too many people that age dang near every deer at 3.5.....
I'd really like to see people start posting deer without antlers and see what people age them at. Just chop the head off. I'm willing to bet several people's answers change!

I think I remember Winke talking about a tall-tale sign that if it has that "blocky-forehead" look, it is most likely 5.5 or older. It definitely has that blocky-square on the forehead - so I would guess at least 5.5. :way: Great looking deer!
I'd say he's 51/2. If he wasn't standing front end down hill I bet his back would have a away in it. Big ole belly like a 4 1/2+yr old. Got quite a bit of trash around his bases that usually don't happen till there mature either.
